Collective bargaining is the process in which the union and the company negotiate the terms of your employment. The law states that management must negotiate in good faith wages, benefits, working conditions and job security, which are mandatory bargaining matters. The collective bargaining process is important to you because it gives you and your colleagues a «voice» on issues that affect you and your families. Once a collective agreement (CBA) is ratified, the union will be able to enforce the contractual conditions and protect your well-being. The CBA is one of the many benefits of membership in the SPFPA™, along with the ability to achieve cumulative improvements to the CBA over the years. SPFPA™ has earned its title as the «safety union authority» across the country and has a proven track records at the bargaining table with full-time negotiators and full-time legal counsel to get the improvements you surely deserve. The answer is «NO». The law states that you have the right to join a union. The National Labour Relations Act, section 7, clearly provides that «workers have the right to self-organization, establishment, membership or support of workers` organizations, collective bargaining by representatives of their choice and other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual assistance or protection, as well as the right to refrain from some or all of these activities, except: this right could be compromised. by an agreement requiring affiliation to a work organisation as a condition of employment, in accordance with Section 8(a)(3), Section 158(a)(3) of this Title. As a member of the SPFPA™ your «rights in the workplace» come from a number of different sources, not just the collective agreement.

You and your collaborators have other rights, including those found in the following areas: SPFPA™ Health and Welfare is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield program that includes a large number of affordable planning options, including hospitalizations, doctor visits, medical priorities, networked and off-grid options, prescription drugs, dentistry, vision, long-term and short-term disability.
